CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) Senate Bill 375: Starts the process to make marijuana legal on tribal land. It allows the governor to negotiate with tribes over the implementation of the laws. “This measure was supported by all of Nevada’s 27 tribes and will present economic development opportunities for these communities,” the governor’s office said in a statement.
– Nevada will have an office dedicated to cybersecurity. It was one of eight bills Gov. Brian Sandoval signed on Friday.
“As I said in my state of the state address, there are now five battlefields in our constant fight for safety and security: land, sea, air, space and cyberspace,” Sandoval said in a statement. “I’m proud to create Nevada’s first Cyber Defense Center which will be tasked with detecting, preventing, and responding to attacks. We must remain vigilant and stay ahead of those who seek to steal our private information and endanger our resources.”
The Office of Cyber Defense Coordination will operate within the Nevada Department of Public Safety, which also includes the Nevada Highway Patrol, the State Fire Marshal and the Nevada Division of Parole and Probation.
The bill notes cybersecurity protects commerce and plays an important role in higher education.
